Chules is gorgeous! I am an absolute dog lover. We have a 10 year old Border Collie and a 3 year old Border collie x Cavalier. My dogs became a bit of a undercurrent through my A-Z series. They weren’t too happy with TS Elliott’s cat poems or Cats The Musical and made their opposition felt. xx Rowena

I have to check myself from constantly posting about Chules. I started posting pics and making up short stories about him on an American Eskimo dog Facebook group page. Fun, and no one complains about my obsession.

I used to read a great dog blog set in Hawaii with Max the Dog but unfortunately they moved to California and the blog stopped. I saw so much of Hawaii and loved all the stories of Max. Do they have particular character traits? Our Border Collie is very true to breed and very ball obsessed. Lady is very pretty but not so smart, although she’s an accomplished food thief and that certainly shows some kind of criminal intelligence.

American Eskimo dogs are supposed to be exceptionally smart, eager to please, and very much a part of the family activities (follow you everywhere). Chules has none of those qualities. Yet he’s a pure breed. He’s smart in some ways, but if I set up some kind of a puzzle, he makes a couple of attempts at figuring it out, and then gives up. If I show him how to do it, he’s all over it. Silly guy!

I am absolutely intrigued by dogs. I recently read “Flush” by Virginia Woolf. It tells the romance between Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning through the eyes of her dog, Flush and what it means to be a poet’s dog. I loved it and you can download it online. xx Rowena
