The Blog

stanza2What Rhymes with Stanza? ~ Words at Rest, Words at Play is where I share my love of writing, poetry, photography, stained glass and the myriad other things I love; usually with humor but making occasional forays into seriousness.

You might say it’s an eclectic compilation of whatever catches my creative fancy.

The Blogger

I guess if you want to learn “About Me,” the best way  to accomplish that is to read the blog. Sorry… no cliff notes.

 The Blog Mascot

ChulesMy American Eskimo dog, Chules, is an integral part of my life. He’s the reason I get out of bed in the morning (he has to go out and pee, after all). He’s my walking buddy, my foot warmer, my alarm system, and a willing model for the copious photographs I take of him.

He helps me retain my curiosity, my humor, my playfulness and my wonder. And maybe that helps explain a bit of the “about me” puzzle.

The Blog Theme Song

Okay, so there really isn’t a theme song for the blog. That would just be silly. But here’s a link to one of my favorite songs:

What Rhymes?

Bonanza
Extravaganza
Tony Danza (American actor)
Lochranza…a wee village on the Scottish island of Arran.
Esperanza
Organza (fabric)
Sancho Panza (squire to Don Quixote)
Costanza (surname)
De Anza College (in northern California)

From Manja at Mexi Movie the Third:

In my language (Slovenian) stanza (pronounced stantza) rhymes with bilanca (what accountants do each month), flanca (gibberish or gossip), balanca (bicycle’s steering apparatus), spanca (genitive case of “spanec” which means sleep as a noun), glanca (informal, from German, “is polishing”), to name but a few.

Keep ’em coming!

Thanks for checking out my blog!

Just wanted to say the first rhyme that popped into my head was tony danza… is that on your list? I was never a huge fan of haiku but I really enjoy yours. And your pet pics are the best!

Thank you! Haiku purists would probably not even consider my poetry to be haiku. But it’s fun to try to write within the limits of the form. I’m glad you like the pet pics. Sometimes I think I overdo it, but it’s hard not to.

De Anza College (in northern California), after Juan Bautista de Anza, one of the, ahem, explorers of California in the mid to late 18th century
