Rewrite, rules bent.
Invite to consent.
Aright, we dissent.
A fight? Ambivalent.
Recite and relent.
Acolytes give assent.
Respite. We fall content.
Despite our diffidence,
some incite resistance.
Alas, sans consequence.
Despot... acquiescence.
Dost we protest too much?
Nay, methinks we protest too little.
Bitingly clever!

Albeit very cynical at the same time. Not my usual tone.

I think we’re allowed the odd moment of cynicism here and there – especially when there’s so much cause.

We should probably protest more, but as a writer I hope to find other ways to protest

Yes, there are many ways to protest. They all “count.”

I agree, except, if nothing changes, does it really count?

Yes! What doesn’t count is apathy and inaction. We can’t really ever know the full effect of our words or actions. If they don’t uproot the tree, at least they plant a seed. Oooh! Maybe I should put that phrase into in a poem. 😉
