Dog Weather

rain cabin

Come outside, it’s raining!

Damp tree scents tickle our noses;
delicious, earthy chills.

Raindrops splash in puddles.
Watch them dance; taste the freshness.

Hear the rain trickle through
moss-furred branches overhead.
Feel the wet soaking in.

Then back inside to shake it all off.

  1. Your quadrille is delightful, Maggie, and it reminded me of my dog who sadly passed away just over seven years go. I especially enjoyed the lines:
    ‘Damp tree scents tickle our noses;
    delicious, earthy chills’.

  2. Lovely. 🙂 I could see that shake. However, it depends on the country. Bestia is an Italian dog and he looks down on rain and barks at it and refuses to step on wet asphalt unless it’s really urgent. This year we had half a day of snow and it was even worse. He preferred to watch it from the car.

    • Haha! Poor bestia. I don’t blame him. He would have a hard time living where I do. My Chules doesn’t care much for snow, but he’ll go out and lay in it. Makes me shiver just to think about it.
