Six truths and a lie (or vice versa)

seven

I saw it coming from the start.

It all just sounded too good to be true.

Later it seemed too bad to be true, but it was.

When you tell enough lies, they start to sound true.

Truth hurts sometimes, but only if you believe it.

Lies hurt, too, because truth always prevails.

I never saw it coming.

dVerse Meeting the Bar: Septet

  1. Maggie, I didn’t think I’d have time to play with dVerse three times in one week, but your poem got me started, I think I’ll post it here first because it started as a reply to your lovely septet.

Truth it seems is rarely lacking leaven. A wise woman said it hurts only if you believe it. The most tenacious con is self-deception. Truth may have its way, but perhaps is merely written by the victors. Whether it is a sword or salve depends upon the heart that wields it. I feel it best as arms wrapped around my sinking shoulders, circling seventh hell and heaven.

    💜 your poem.
    Glad I’be found you. Lona
