I put up walls to hide who I really was.
I tried to create the persona I thought
you wanted me to be, but those
carefully constructed illusions didn’t hold up, and so
you saw right through me.
I put on masks, and tried to smile and pretend
that everything was fine, just fine… but
I’ve never been a very good pretender, and so
you saw right through me.
I thought I needed to become someone I’m not, but I
finally realized I couldn’t hide;
There was, in fact, no need to hide.
I simply had to be who I truly am
because even then – as it turned out –
you saw right through me
as if I wasn’t even there,
as if I were, indeed,
just an illusion.

I would have loved to read but the font is too fine.

Hmm… I’ve never had that comment before. I’ve switched fonts to see if I could make it more legible. Perhaps you could take another look and let me know if it helps?

I’ll try on another screen, maybe my lap top. I hope you don’t feel bad. It was said with best intentions.

Not at all. Good feedback. Not much sense in posting if it can’t be read. 🙂

That is right. People with excellent eyes may read very fine print but since we write for everybody it’s better when it’s much larger.

At the last wedding I attended (and my first Italian wedding), the newlyweds’ first dance was to the song “Just an Illusion”. Talking about seeing right through things.

Wow! And are they still together?

😀 They have been together for more than 10 years before getting married. And yes, they continue.
