White snow on a black nose…

Tuxedo cat…

White dog in black shadows…

White chin, black mood…

Brown dog…

Okay, so not everything in life is black and white.
lean into each day
not racing to be the first
rather
in eagerness to explore

reach ever higher
not to claim more than others
rather
to stretch your understanding

take time for catnaps
restore soul and sanity
and
allow new dreams to unfold

The Daily Post weekly photo challenge: Anticipation
So maybe I’m an overachiever. Susie Lindau’s #Blessed Project, which is aimed at inspiring us to consider the blessings in our lives, will wrap up next week. And although I’ve already counted several blessings here and here, I felt compelled to give it a third go ’round.
Here it is — #Blessed, Part III.
I’m blessed with:
the freedom to express my individuality…

plentiful sustenance…

the opportunity to live in and learn from diversity…

adequate clothing to protect me from the elements…

and compassionate peers who listen without passing judgment.

May we never run out of blessings to count.

You can’t get to where you’re going
until you’ve come from where you came.
sometimes
constructive outcomes
rely on
destructive beginnings
glass is broken
then reassembled into
new and creative forms

grass lays dormant
trees are stripped of leaves or
frozen in winter winds
only to reawaken in spring
for new and vibrant growth

structures are gutted
rendered useless
until labor and skill restore them
to even greater
utility and beauty

we are tested
in times of turmoil
beaten down and disillusioned, but
we won’t be broken
we won’t lie dormant
we won’t allow our strengths to
be rendered useless

we are creative
we are vibrant
we are useful
and beautiful
we’ll move ahead
constructively
because that is how
we grow
The Daily Post weekly photo challenge: New Horizon
“[S]how us something that you want to achieve [in the New Year]… imagine your new horizons.”For me, I hope the new year brings more creative opportunities in working with stained glass, landscaping my yard and do-it-yourself projects in my home. And I hope to continue to grow and find new ways of using my strengths to contribute in building a better world.

It’s shaping up to be
a quiet day at the playground.

No children standing in line,

squaring up to slides,

circling structures,

curving around corners…

Perhaps they fear that the rain and wind
will wRECk and TANGLE their hair!

If you can’t go out and play on park structures, perhaps you can park yourself inside and play with words.
