White snow on a black nose…

White dog in black shadows…

White chin, black mood…

Brown dog…

Okay, so not everything in life is black and white.

So maybe I’m an overachiever. Susie Lindau’s #Blessed Project, which is aimed at inspiring us to consider the blessings in our lives, will wrap up next week. And although I’ve already counted several blessings here and here, I felt compelled to give it a third go ’round.
Here it is — #Blessed, Part III.
I’m blessed with:
the freedom to express my individuality…

plentiful sustenance…

the opportunity to live in and learn from diversity…

adequate clothing to protect me from the elements…

and compassionate peers who listen without passing judgment.

May we never run out of blessings to count.
Last Thursday I posted my contribution to Susie Lindau’s #Blessed Project, which is aimed at inspiring us to consider the blessings in our lives.
I decided to give it a second go-around this week. So here it is, #Blessed, Part II.
I’m blessed with:
the ability to hang on when skies are grey…

curiosity…

time to myself where I can just let my thoughts float by…

a place to line dance when I’m feeling wired…

and beautiful vistas to admire from my favorite perches.

With Thanksgiving Day behind us, it’s a good time to notice that there are 364 additional days in which we can be thankful.
Let’s keep counting our blessings.
Susie from Susie Lindau’s Wild Ride blog has introduced a #Blessed Project on her website, aimed at encouraging us to “count our blessings,” so to speak. Her suggestion is as follows:
“Sometime between now and December 18th take a break and make a blessed project list. This will remind you of what makes you happy. We can only think about one thing at a time, so this project should hip-check negative thoughts out of your cranium for a while. Endorphins will fill the space. Can you feel it?”
I love the idea! Here is my first list of things for which I am thankful. (There may be more to follow. I have been blessed a LOT!)
I am blessed by:
abundance…

supportive family and friends…

diverse interests…

new beginnings and hope…

resilience…

strength to keep reaching toward the light…

and seasons that each bring their own beauty!

I wish you all a #blessed Thanksgiving Day and every day!
What do you count as your blessings?
which came first,
the clouds dropping water
upon the ground,

or the ground water evaporating
into clouds?

did it start out as a fog,
neither of the clouds
nor of the ground?

perhaps it began as ice…

or frost…

however the magic began,
I am glad
for the way it dances

and quenches our thirst for life.

We all know that seemingly ordinary folks turn into werewolves during full moons, right? Well, they’re not the only ones to transform.
Take my seemingly innocent dog Chules for example. He loves to go out and explore in the moonlight.

But sometimes… he morphs into:
a charging bear

or a lone wolf

howling at the moon

or maybe a rearing stallion

or a zombie!

Scariest of all is when he turns into
a hyena!

Fortunately, once the full moon begins to wane, he turns back into his lovable self.

What creatures do you see when you venture out on a full moon?

When you live in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, you can’t let a little rain stop you from getting out to enjoy the lushness of autumn. There’s just too much beauty to take in.

Eight things I wouldn’t want to be:
I. A big fish in a small pond.

II. Just another brick in the wall.

III. The lone fire hydrant in a dog park.

IV. A sitting duck.

V. On a train to nowhere.

VI. A thorn in someone’s side.

VII. Moss on a rolling stone.

VIII. Caught with my back — or butt — against the wall.

“Are you sure, brown dog? Bark if I see ANYTHING at all on the street, and twice as loud if I see NOTHING at all?”

“Hmmm. Fruity, black currant, vanilla, buttery… I’d say cab-sauvignon aged in oak.”
“I’d say cherry Pop Tart.”

I am reposting my thoughts from last year’s World Oceans Day. Now more than ever, our oceans are in need of protection.
“How inappropriate to call this planet Earth when it is clearly Ocean.”
~ Arthur C. Clarke
Expansive and deep,
beautiful but volatile,
ample force to turn
vessels to splinters.
Teeming with life,
ceaselessly churning,
an indefatigable
dynamo.
Kissed by the sun,
caressed by the winds,
extolled by poets
and sailors alike.
Sustainer of life
as we know it on Earth,
yet with all its
grandeur and might…
still fragile.
